Renaming more than one file at once
Wed, 18/02/2009 - 10:20 — root When downloading files from an external device such as a scanner the names of the files can be nonsensical. To rename several similar files at once please use the following steps.
1.Open the folder that contains the files you want to rename.
2.Select the files you want to rename by holding down the CTRL button then clicking on each file with the left mouse button. This will highlight the files to rename.
3.Right Click then select Rename.
4.Type in the new name then press ENTER.
Each of the selected files will then be renamed in sequence using the name you selected. For example if you typed in IXA, each of the files you selected will be renamed IXA1, IXA2, IXA3, IXA4 and so on.
